Organized by WorldStrings Promotion and Laurarecords, the DAFT-Tour (Deutsch-Amerikanisches Folksänger Treffen - German-American Songfestival on Tour) was a roots music & singer/songwriting festival that took place annually in a rotating pattern in both Germany and the United States in 2003 - 2005, an endeavor for all lovers of songs and poetry as well as curious novice listeners.
Artists from the United States and Germany went on respective tours in each country. It was a unique collaboration of musicians providing an exceptional experience for both the audience & artists and presenting art and music as a common language. The DAFT-Tour was endorsed by the folk luminaries Pete Seeger, Tom Paxton, the director of the BMW Center for German and European Studies Jeffrey Anderson as well as by PROFOLK, the German Association for Songs, Folk and World Music and supported by organizations like Martin Guitar & Co.
One of the highlights of the DAFT-Tour was the historic concert on November 11, 2004 (Veteran’s Day) at the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. - click below link in picture gallery to watch the complete live performance recording.
The mission of the DAFT-Tour was Bringing people together through the Power of Music (the Pete Seeger endorsement). The DAFT-Tour offered an eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary music. By 2005, it had been established as a prominent cross-cultural experience. As a combination of concerts and workshops, it enriched the cultural life of colleges and school campuses, attracted new audiences and appealed to a broad audience.
